Lisa Sholar, LMSW
Lisa received her master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University after receiving bachelors of psychology from LeMoyne College. She has provided counseling services in a number of diverse settings including schools in an autistic child care program and in home based settings. In these fields, she has also worked to address couples concerns as they affect the family additionally, she has worked with foster parents.
In her work as a school based counselor Lisa provides intensive therapy in teen sexuality and relationship issues. She has extensive training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), with children on the autism spectrum and brief-solution focused therapy. While attending Syracuse University Lisa was selected to participate as a trainee in the Training Professionals to Support Healthy Marriages, Healthy Relationships and Families project. She has received advanced training from Insoo Kim Berg, a leader in brief solution focused therapy.
Lisa combines structural family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, systems theory, play therapy, and brief-solution focused therapy in her approach. She is energetic and dedicated to working with individuals and families. Lisa is available for consultation and treatment appointments on Fridays and some evenings.
